Celebrate Christmas and New Year's Eve at Ugly Butterfly by Adam Handling nestled in the coastal town of St. Ives. Ugly Butterfly is the perfect panoramic restaurant to visit this festive season for local Cornish food with sustainability at its heart.
Including a festive afternoon tea, a Christmas Day menu, and a spectacular New Year's Eve party, Ugly Butterfly is the place for celebrations. In the comfort of the restaurant, guests can look across the ocean as they are welcomed in and offered a luxury festive afternoon tea with roast turkey and stuffing sandwiches, a Christmas pudding tree, roast apple and blackberry crumble and cinnamon and golden raisin scones. The menu will be available from Wednesday to Saturday from the 1st until the 31st of December, and is priced at £45pp, or £55pp when adding fizz.
For Christmas Day itself, guests are given the chance to go all out with supplements of native oysters or N25 caviar, served with cultured cream and seaweed potato chips, to sample a taste of the local surroundings. The menu otherwise starts with a selection of snacks, including the much-loved bread, and chicken butter before offering starters such as celeriac, apple, truffle and pressed Cornish hen, pickled mushrooms, sorrel. For the main event, there will of course be Balmoral turkey or, for something different, guests can choose from beef Wellington served with roast squash, artichoke, truffle or halibut, brown shrimps, samphire, served with all the trimmings. Desserts include a traditional Christmas pudding with brandy', a King's trifle', or a South West cheese selection.
Ugly Butterfly knows how to throw a party and is an unmissable place to book in for a New Year's Eve spectacular. They are starting as they mean to go on with a sensational eight-course tasting menu, beginning with a selection of snacks and bread with chicken butter. The rest of the menu boasts local seasonal ingredients in dishes such as St. Ives smoked haddock, leeks and caviar or scallop, carrot and chilli, English wagyu, black garlic and St. Ives fig leaf with baked cream and caramelised waffle will finish the feast.
Guests can keep the party going in the Ugly Butterfly bar, which recently won CLASS Bar Awards' Sustainable Practices Award, with exclusive NYE cocktails including Flitter Fizz, a concoction of gin, Cornish lemon, sugar and champagne. DJ John will be entertaining guests until the early hours, and the restaurant will ensure the evening is done right by providing a midnight snack of Cornish pasties. https://www.uglybutterfly.co.uk
