Experience the magic of Christmas at Newquay's 'Miracle on Fore Street'

On Friday the 8th of December, from 4 pm until 8 pm, local businesses in Newquay will host the Miracle on Fore Street, a late-night shopping event. This inaugural celebration promises to immerse you in the magic of the season, bringing the entire community together for an unforgettable Christmas experience.

Prepare to have your senses overwhelmed as you stroll down Fore Street and Alma Place as local shops and eateries come together with delightful activities and offerings to get you in the Christmas mood. Browse through independent craft stalls for gifts and participate in festive activities such as face painting by Little Rainbows and biscuit decorating at Beach Shack or see a demonstration from Coastal Flowers and Gifts on how to create a traditional moss-filled Christmas wreath so you can bring the festive charm into your own home.

Local Newquay cafés and food vans will also be taking part in the late-night shopping experience offering everything from cosy pie and mash meals to mulled wine and roasted chestnuts. In addition, local Cornish brands like Skinner Brewery and Tarquin's, will be serving up delightful festive beverages at their pop-up bars. For all the wine enthusiasts out there, Elly Owen – a talented wine sommelier, will be offering her carefully selected wines for sale.

That's not all. Prepare to be serenaded by the angelic voices of the Newquay Rowing Club singers, belting out everyone's favourite festive tunes at Milk Café from 5 pm. To elevate the atmosphere further, join St Michael's Church in a heartwarming carol singalong at the bottom of Sainsbury's steps.

Don't miss out on the chance to win an incredible Christmas Raffle Hamper, filled with contributions from local shops. The hamper's value has now surpassed £150, making it a truly spectacular prize. Each raffle ticket is priced at £1.00, and the lucky winner will be drawn on Christmas Eve. All proceeds from the raffle will go directly to Newquay Food Bank and the RSPCA, making it an opportunity to spread joy and support important causes.

The masterminds behind this hyper-local festive event are Becci Williams from Milk Café and Simon Thompson from Fore Street Café. Reflecting on their childhood memories, Simon explains why this event holds such significance, "We want to bring the community spirit back to Newquay. When we were kids, our parents would treat us to mince pies as we decorated biscuits and sang carols together. Now it's our turn to host these events and create beautiful memories for our community."

But it goes beyond just great memories. Becci adds, "Our Miracle on Fore Street event is a gift from locals to locals, which is why we are not charging participating businesses but instead we're asking every business to donate a percentage of their earnings to our charity beneficiary - Newquay Food Bank. Together, we can support our local community in the true spirit of the holiday season."

Many businesses have joined the cause, including Fore Street Café, Milk Café, The Good Lyfe, Newquay Activity Centre, Smile Surf, Sunny Days, North Shore, Coastal Flowers and Gifts, Beach Shack, MMW, Café Cloud, Belushi's, Custard Point Surf Shop, Saltrock and Mossy's Pizza. Sainsbury's has even stepped up by allowing stalls to be set up at the edge of their car park, overlooking Alma Place.

With such incredible support, the event aims to fill the streets with amazing goods, mouthwatering food, and delightful activities, showcasing the vibrant community of Newquay and its exceptional local businesses. This business-led initiative is a fantastic addition to Newquay's bustling Christmas calendar, following the recent Christmas lights switch-on, lantern parade, and festive events held at the Killacourt.

Newquay BID is proud to support the Miracle on Fore Street, as Mark Warren, the town's BID manager, comments, "This is exactly what our town needs – businesses coming together with community-driven initiatives and localized events that attract visitors to our town centres. We're excited to witness the first Miracle on Fore Street this Friday and see our businesses take charge in creating an electric atmosphere for both locals and visitors."

So, if you're craving a dose of Christmas cheer, extraordinary finds, and the chance to support local businesses, make sure to attend the Miracle on Fore Street this Friday from 4 pm to 8 pm, and explore the wonders that unfold throughout Fore Street and Alma Place. Let's come together, support great causes, and create cherished memories this holiday season.
