How to Transition Your Skincare Routine for Spring with Dr Preema Vig

We asked Dr Preema Vig, medical director and skin expert at https://drpreema.com for her advice on transforming skincare routines reading for spring. After all, the cold spring weather can play havoc with our skin resulting in dry, blotchy areas and flakiness. Combined with the blasts of cold air from outside allotted exercise and you’ve the perfect storm for dull, dry skin.

"The skin’s outer layer, the stratum corneum, acts as a barrier to keep bacteria out and moisture in,” says Dr Preema Vig, Medical Director and skin expert. “Very dry air can cause gaps to form in the cells’ protective layer known as trans-epidermal water loss, which can increase inflammation, dryness and compromise skin. Additionally, extreme temperature changes due to  switching from inside to out can cause the delicate blood vessels in the skin to expand and contract causing swelling, redness and further irritation” she adds.

“To combat this, strengthen the skin barrier and maintain moisture with the correct products,” says Dr Preema. “Firstly, you should switch to a gentle cleanser as winter can make your skin feel dry and dull. Swapping out heavy and overly rich cleansers for a gentle and hydrating option that cleans without stripping the skin of its natural oils. After that, I recommend Morphiya Exosomes Concentrate. Clinically proven to dramatically reduce the appearance of wrinkles, redness, and age-related brown spots, this formula is meticulously designed for daily use, providing intense hydration that leaves your complexion radiant and rejuvenated." In the Spring, this lighter moisturiser is often sufficient to maintain hydration without making your skin feel heavy.

"Morphiya Exosomes Genesis Formula SOS also acts as a powerful regeneration booster in periods of intense stress for your skin, such as travel, oxidative stress, pollution, sunburns, injuries and irritations that shields your skin from environmental stressors and pollutants that contribute to visible signs of ageing, ensuring long-term resilience and protection. Additionally, with the extra sun exposure in Spring, incorporating antioxidants like Vitamin C can help protect against free radicals and brighten your skin tone.

"The most crucial step is prioritising SPF. SPF should be non-negotiable in your routine as we have longer days and stronger UV rays. Choose a broad-spectrum SPF and apply it daily, even on cloudy days. Also, gentle exfoliation can help slough off dead skin cells accumulated over winter, allowing your skin to better absorb hydration and active ingredients like those in Morphiya.

"Together, these products will promote a healthy, luminous complexion with powerful ingredients known to enhance skin vitality and glow. They restore and maintain your skin’s natural moisture balance, providing continuous hydration that keeps your skin plump, supple, and glowing."
